As above i'm after an alt before weekend. tall ask. I think and it looks like the brushes that are faulty. For right money i'd take a spare. Local to middle north wales. :)

1990 16V Alternator Refurb?!?! Please help
scottydogwoof replied to scottydogwoof's topic in Engine Bay
I assume there still around 15 quid?? Can i check the diodes. I know when i spin the pully with a volt meter connected there is no voltage accross terminals. What would a faulty diode syptoms be? -
Guys and gals, I am pretty sure that i have knackered brushes. i have stripped the back side of the alt and taken the brushes out. one is really short and grubby looking, the other one is still long ish but looks nicly polished. Hence my assumption the brushes are ko'd. I saw MrWort talking about a brush pack but where can i get these?? and are there any other checks i can do to check other alt componants. scottydogwoof

noisy belts and pulleys on an 8v or 16v - try checking this
scottydogwoof replied to davidwort's topic in Engine Bay
Yeah looks like my solution is the shim option its not on any funny angle, the pully is just not pertruding enough to line up. Ta Dave -

Glad i'm not the only one. my pas is visually out without a straight edge. I think its whats causing a subtle whine on the engine. Do you file it down to shim it up tho Mr Wort? Or CAN you take it apart and shim it back in ? -
Hey guys, VR, Not cleaned this modual, any particular way to do it or just spray it out with some thing? I'v been told when ISV is plugged in it idles high all the time. 160bhp ish will be great tho lol, I loved the g60 so anything around there would work for me. Also i'm lead to belive the car sits on Koni damper/spring kit. feels good but i know camber and toe is out as i remeber it being totally neutral and the car in cambered in an toed out lol. Is there a how to on warm up reg modds?

Hello, Newbie to the site but not to the car. I'v just aquired my second corrado after owning a g60 a good few years ago. I'm back an loving it after only a weekend of driving it lol. This time around i managed to get a nice cheap H reg 1.8i 16v in Tornado red. Black cloth interior. Not mint but great for the money. also had a respray so no pink paint work lol :) Any thing i need to know or modify to help this old girl along. Also the air idle valve is disconected due to it being faulty so very lumpy when cold for around 2 min's after this seems fine. But if anyone knows they have an older spare one PM me. :) Scott
