Hi, Another job needs doing on my old mans $^&$^$ of a corrado. He's had major overheating issues which fingers crossed I've sorted ish, but the last time it overheated before the "repair" steam came through all the vents and the carpet is soaked. After reading various things it looks like a %$%^ of a job. Is there a guide (with piccies for the clueless) Regards, Nick.

Well I have just fitted a new radiator fan switch unit on the radiator and seems a ton better. My old man is gone out in it now (taken my mobile just in case), fingers crossed. Of course when it boiled the other day he had steam coming in through the vents and the rear carpet is soaked, heater matrix I presume and after reading various articles job looks like a nightmare. So new middle box, sort out heater, maybe. This car has been a pain ever since he bought it back in 96, and being a stubborn old fart he wont get rid. Anyway thanks for all the help so far, really appreciated. Nick.

Hi, Any ideas of where and how much for a 1995 2.0l 8v exhaust middle box? Cheers, Nick.
-
Am I right in thinking that water enters radiator from the top and comes out the bottom? I just had it running with the fan on all the time (shorted the connections on the plug), needle gauge on the dash went upto 110 C, oil was around 90, what is the "norm"?
-
@carrots The top large pipe on radiator gets hot and "harder", the bottom large pipe on radiator stays cool but not hard.
-
Since posting this earlier I have checked the fan and it doesn't come on. We have swapped the radiator switch before so I can swap that tomorrow. Head gasket sounds likely and expensive, oh dear.
-
Oh ye cap was off.

Hi, Water came out of the expansion tank, gushed/boiled out fast. Oil looks normal. Thanks, Nick

Hi, My old mans Corrado is overheating bigtime.(His engine type is ADY 2.0l 8v) First thing I checked is the small pipe on the side of the reservoir tank to see if any water runs back in when its running, nothing. After about 5-10 mins of running and while we both stared at the engine swearing badly, both looking clueless, all of a sudden water started gushing from the coolant reservoir tank, more swearing followed before quickly shutting off the engine. The air around Blackpool that night was very very blue. Is this pointing at a knackered waterpump? From my research it looks like quite a job to get to. (going to a garage is out of the question due to our finances, or lack of). On this type of engine do you have to remove the cam belt to get to the waterpump? If so, no chance I can help. From my online research I see other possible issues are:- Thermostat, again a £^*&%^ to get to I think. Head gasket, lets not even go there!!! Any input/help would be gratefully received, Cheers, Nick. ps This car in my opinion always has been a &^%^&%^$!

Sorry for delay. My dads car engine is a ADY. I have cleaned the MAF sensor which improved the response time/throttle initial lag slightly. Any other ideas very welcome and NEEDED!. Thanks, Nick. -

Hi, My poor old mans 8v 2l corrado is having lag issues, oh and bad starting in cold weather. When you drive away there is an initial lag/drop in acceleration, this happens after each gear change,it then picks up and seems to run ok. He's taken it to many different garages who have tried many thing at his expense and only being a pensioner he cant afford to keep throwing money which he hasn't got, any longer so im determined to help out, with you guys help. He has had vac pipes replaced, sensors cleaned, new plugs, leads, fuel filter. The last garage he went to and they plugged in a computer said that the throttle body was throwing up an error and quoted alot of money to swap it out, which he hasn't as yet. I've started googling cars with similar issues but get abit overwhelmed with the number of probable causes. Are there any sites to give diagrams or pictures of all the sensors and there locations for me to do some tinkering to try and help him out? Any suggestions are gratefully received, Cheers, Nick.

Evening folks, Here we go, I located the sensor, omg who put it there, wires looked ok, followed wires round the front of the engine to the connecter. The barcket that holds the connecter was just floating loose. Sometime ago a garage replaced the engine mounts for my dads car and must have left this bracket loose. I cleaned off the connector is discovered the red wire a chaffed through to the copper wire, were talking problably 5mm of wire. This must of been shorting out. You can see on the photo, the bracket and the right hand side wire, red one, is the cullprit. I temperarily tie wrapped the connect well away from anything metallic and weve driven the car numerous times over the last couple of days and not one stutter. Many thanks to you all for your input, helped bigtime,oh and my dad is so chuffed,ta from him. ANy one know where this bracket should be bolted too? Cheers and thanks again, Nick
