hi guys as im sure some of you allready know my baby vr6 has been written off by a 17.5 tonne lorry deciding not to brake and drive into me at a high speed. anyway i am still here, even if i am aching and painfull all over but annoyed that my babys written off and the only way to get funds is to sell her in pieces. i need some advice. how much shoudl i sell the engine for? bearing in mind it is from a vw golf vr6 highline(2.8) and has done no more at a guess 60000 miles? she was running sweet and still is now! whats the going rate for an engine and gearboz?????any ideas very much welcome!!! thanks

i would love to but i have a big brake conversion using wilwood calipers which means that only a few types of wheel will fit and not catch on them! i would love to buy a set of 15" wheels for when i go out for a fun drive, and have the 18" wheels for shows and normal driving, its just that i cant find wheels that small that will fit!

i love the laymans overview, its what i understand! anyway i now get the bigger wheel v engine power debate. cheers guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
yeah you guys are right, i dont know about internet law but i work in retail, all prices are an invitation to buy, once the seller accepts then they have to sell it at that price. anyway back to the original thread, when i got my oz chronos for my C i was told by loads of places that they were discontinued, i however speak to OZ who said that they were not discontinued, only the darker coloured wheels, and then got a pair and think they are one of the best looking wheels you can get for the Corrado!

wow, i take it you dont like big wheels then!?!?!?!? the reason i thought that having bigger wheels would make top speed faster is the circumference of an 18 inch wheel is more then a 15 inch wheel , so on one complete revolution the 18 inch wheel would travel slightly further, meaning that at top whack, the contact between tyre and road per revoltion of wheel is longer, meaning faster top speed????????????? also i see this as why accelleration is better on smaller rims. am i insane or am i seeing it completely wrong?

cheers guys, it gives me an idea of what is expected of my vr, yeah im running 18's, but i thought that would slow the acceleration, and give me more top speed. i will go out in the next couple of days with a friend gps and get the real figure. im just a bit pissed that i lost to my younger brother!

hi dr mat what is a vag-com? do i buy it from somewhere? what does it do?
-
hi chaps had a quick blat on me private road with my younger brother driving a bmw 325, he started to pull away from me at 70, then at 125 then he really pulled away, mine topped out at 125 and would not go any faster, is this normal? i have a 2.8 litre from a golf vr6 in mine, his car has a 2.5 litre, i assume mine weighs less, why did he beat me? i recently had my car dyno'd at 188bhp so i know it is running ok, just had a service including fuel filter. the only thing i can think is that my fuel pump is going becasue my fuel gauge no longer works, and my idle goes weird for a minute or 2 when starting up from cold, any ideas????

the 18's are appently only available in offset 32mm. i have used 5mm spacers on the front and rear, but i think i will get some 10mm spacers for the front(when they are that size they aren't really spacers but hub extenders). the reason for this is that they rub at full lock and when driving hard.
-
i just had a thought. my C was originally a 2 litre 16v but the last owner transplanted a vr6 engine in. i dont know if this means that the fuel pump setup is the same as in a normal vr6, what do you think? i think i will change the fuel filter first and go from there.

nice car m8, wheels looks sweet!

yeah they are 18's. there are only a couple of things i want to do to the car now to finish it off. i want to fit a bodykit and tints. i dont want an over the top bodykit, just sopmething that makes the most of the original corrado shape. i might look at getting a supercharger or nitrious when i am old enough to afford the insurance with these sort of mods.cheers for the comments boys, when thiings are going wrong on your corrado and you start to get wound up, its good when peeps like the car, it makes it all worth it.

yeah i did take off the front spoiler, in my old house i couldnt get over the speed bumps! i have since moved house and put the spoiler back on, it looks o much sweeter with it on. i will have some more pics soon

thanks! thankfully i didnt have to pay for the brakes, the last owner did. they set him back about £1600 i think. it makes such a difference when driving hard compared to my mates corrado 16v on standard brakes. the only problem iv found is that disks are expensive and difficult to find when needing replacement.
