Jim 2 Posted November 11, 2002 God damn... trying to get into a tight space coming to work this morning, and just scratched up the corner of my bumper on this old Ford Sierra. I want to post a string of four letter words here but I dont think I should. God damn :( I have never done that so far in my (admittedly small) amount of years driving.. So anyone got a bumper for sale, in Blackberry Metallic? :(
Jim 2 Posted November 11, 2002 Just been out to a body shop at lunch time who reckon its not a big problem to patch up.. they estimated £90 before VAT which seems pretty reasonable. *panic over*
VR6 0 Posted November 11, 2002 good to hear jim! might teach you to be more careful in future tho :?
Jim 2 Posted November 11, 2002 Thats the annoying thing though - I am always really careful. As I say, thats the first scrape in like 3 years of motoring. Lets hope its the last for a few more! Gonna give Chips Away a call tomorrow - I like the idea of them just coming down to me and doing the job there and then - wonder how much they would charge? :)
Fat Tony 0 Posted November 16, 2002 Hi Jim, Sorry to hear about your scratch. Have you thought about contacting one of those mobile guy's who touch up cars for dealer’s i.e. stone chips and scratches. I had the above out to my car and he took out five dents (I think it was five maybe seven) took him half and hour and charged me twenty five quid. The reason I say this for yours is he said he also does scratches, alloy (refurb repairs) windscreens etc....etc. Jack of all trades master of none I hear you say but he done a spot on Job with my car and five other people at work. One of the guys is getting some scratches removed for his Audi. Will let you know how it goes if you are interested. So if the above happened to myself I would ask him for a price to do the touch up as 90 nicker sounds a bit steep for a scratch. What are they doing for the above? The above is based in Derby which is not a million miles away from Coventry but would no doubt add to the cost of getting the repair done in terms of time and fuel. Just a suggestion although I can't vouch for anybody in your area. Maybe someone else would know somebody? :?: Laters

I will be in Derby from the 2nd of Jan to the 6th, and need an alloy refurbed and the tyre changed on the same alloy. Would be great if I could get it done all together! 2cc 0 Posted January 15, 2003 Jim, look on the bright side. Believe me it drives you  when you come back to the car park and find it bashed Fat Tony, I've often wondered about the 'dent removal' claims and whether they are any good. I've got the odd minor wounds from car parks and crap from the road, paint intact. So what can they deal with and how do they do it?
Jim 2 Posted January 15, 2003 2CC.. welcome to the forums :) I have developed a tasty scratch on my once unblemished rear bumper thanks to some moron.. had a go at polishing it out, but only managed to conceal it a little. Bloody annoying when people do that :(
2cc 0 Posted January 16, 2003 Jims16v. Cheers buddy, nice to be here. Hope you got the front bumper sorted OK. Sorry to hear about the back end, my sympathy - I know what you mean. My 16v got 'done' in a car park (message above). The nice job by the body shop then got ruined 3 DAYS later when I collected some clown up the a***. Bummer. But at least he paid for the next paint job. Ain't the dark colours a real pain for showing up every little scratch.
Jim 2 Posted January 16, 2003 Have yet to get the front bumper sorted to be honest. Its a 90 quid bill that I just can't afford at the minute - last month had to get 2 new tyres for the MOT, this month I have to tax the car, then next month its time for a service - just can't raise the 90 quid to put the scratch right. But as its plastic, I am not going to rush - not like it'll go rusty or anything :) And yeah - my car shows up scratches like you wouldnt believe... Have to say, I envy the fact you have 2 C's :) Any pictures? :D
Valver 0 Posted January 16, 2003 Even more annoying/frustrating when you dent/scratch your car yourself!! Immobiliser was playing up on mine last week, got relayed home by RAC about 1am, and while pushing the car onto the drive managed to scrape the rear qtr on girlfriends Polo front bumper!!! May try out those Dentmaster peeps...... But basically he works the dents from behind with long mental poles which in my case he put between the window and the door skin using a card lines it all up . The guy who done mine was great if you can spot where they used to be on my car I'll eat my hat  He had a problem with one on the crease but it is a lot better than before. I would never recommend something without knowing they where any good. He done five of us at work and everyone was well impressed and the cost is nothing compared to taking it to a body shop. I can only vouch for the one in Derby never used any others HTH
Fat Tony 0 Posted January 16, 2003 If anyone is in the east midlands his name is Martin and his number is 01332 799811. We done a mini group buy and he came to our office to do it and was very cheap  . HTH
