Revs too high and stays high........

When i got the car it would keep dying on start until it has warmed up and then it is perfect,maintains 10 on the rev counter and accelerates as normal,but now as of yesterday it revs too high doing 15 to 25 on the counter and on start up this afternoon ,it started straight away doing rev 0f 20 to 25 steady,don't even have to give gas to move off. HELP :(

Have you checked the throttle cable?

hi,yes checked it just now plus had it clean and set a few months ago and was fine after that.

Try cleaning the ISV? - Not sure that picture helps troubleshoot the problem tho... :wink:

Hi,

 

Thought i would add my post to this thread as my 16v is doing the same at the moment...i had a brand spanking new dizzy put on last night to solve my flat spot probs...seems to have fixed that but now the idle is very high 1500-2k on start up and when the clutch is dipped.

 

Could this be anything to do with the ECU re-learning its settings and will fix itself in a couple of days? Or is it the ISV gone again (replaced last year), or airleaks in the pipes?

 

I seem to fix one problem only to find another these days!!! :mad:
