easy mate take it apart and on the front of the lcd glass is a filter (glued on) take this off clean the glue off it and reverse it hey presto it reverses the colours, so red numbers and black background :-)

i used electrical cleaner (just cos i had it handy) to clean the glue off, you'll think it isnt going to budge but it does eventually

and i used a scalpel to remove the polarised filter

start it off with a knife and then peel

I never got around to doing it... Basically you need to remove the grey/blue wire in the main connector and put in an ignition live instead. You'll then need to disconnect the other illumination (across the top) from the main circuit board (it's on a 2 pin connector) and connect that to the grey/blue wire and an earth so that you can vary the brightness of the top bulbs. This does mean, however, that you can't change the brightness of the LCD illumination...

DISCLAIMER! I'm not sure if it IS the grey/white wire on a Corrado, but I'm pretty certain it is. Check with a multimeter before modifying any of you wiring to check that the voltage on the wire at the multiplug changes with the lights on as you move the brightness control! 8)

WIRE IS ACTUALLY GREY WITH A BLUE TRACE. Post edited to reflect this... 8)

Since the light for the centre read out (mileometer/trip meter) has gone I'd love to do something like this to mine but wouldn't know where to start! Any tips? How much would it cost to get done at a garage?

it's mainly labour that's needed.... the parts will only cost you a few pounds at the max, but you're probably looking at about 4 hours labour for a garage to do it if they'd take it on... :|

it's a doddle to fix that bulb yourself... less than 1 hour and only 2 screwdrivers needed... 8)

cheers ian, i know the wire you mean, i didnt really want to do the whole dash illumination only the lcds but i suppose to do that i would have to do what oichan did and that was two buy and wire in the lcd bulbs separately

nowhere near as difficult as it looks mate, just takes a bit of patience

i'll pm you some instructions, the good thing is it only takes 4 screws and unplug the dash and you're inside the house to do the rest

ps. to just replace the bulb its only the4 screws !
