Speakers popping and cutting out

Recommended Posts

Hi, there

I have got a strange problem with my stereo and speakers. I fitted a new to me sony stereo at the weekend and now every so often all the speakers make a popping sound and then no sound until I turn it off and on again then its fine for another few minutes.

I was wondering if the stereo is to powerfull for the original C speakers and it is blowing them?? Mine is 91 G60 it has the tweeters and the door ones fitted. The sony stereo is supposed to be 4X40 watts.

I was also wondering if it was getting to hot and cutting out, but i would have thought it would have completely died if that was the case.

This is very odd, any ideas would be great as it now does my head in :x

mark. :)

mark_ingle,

According to my experience in Sony Technical department...

 That would be your amplifier (built in) putting some high current in the output.

I have replaced lots of them with that problem... :?

So be carufull not to damage your speakers!

Yes there is.

You may replace your amplifier which is located in the back side of the radio.

I don´t remember it´s reference at the moment, i´m going to find out (TDA****).

Otherwise you´ll see it when you open the radio.

Be carufull with the soldering iron, not to damage any part of the PCB.
