Wishbone bushes

I'm replacing my suspension, and wheel bearings and I figured I might as well replace the bushes whilst it's apart - just wondering how many I needed?

There are two bushes on each wishbone but the rears are a bit of a nightmare to change. While the wisbone's are out you may as well replace the inner bushes on the ARB too since they only cost a couple of quid. I suppose the droplinks that connect the ARB to the wishbone are also fair game and less than a tenner each.

just checked GSF and they are doing the front w/bone bushes for 2.75 and the ARB inners for 1.30.

 

2.75 x 4 = £11

1.30 x 2 = £2.60

 

£13.60 for front end bushes - result :-D

never actually attempted it on a corrado, but it looks fairly straight forward. Judging from this thread about wheel bearings it all looks OK to me. Guess it comes down to your confidence with a spanner. :)

Dead easy to do - just time consuming. We sell new wishbones with the bushes already fitted, if your old ones are looking a bit rusty.

 

You'll need a vice to press the new bushes into your old bottom wishbones. Easiest way to remove the old ones is either to press them out or burn them out with a blowtorch.

 

Replace the bottom ball joints at the same time - they'll be totally shot by now, unless they've already been replaced.

 

You'll need to get the camber reset once you put the car back together - laser 4 wheel alignment.

Be prepared for some swearing - the old ball joints can be a complete barsteward to remove

I've never bothered with changing the wishbone bushes on any VW I've owned. A complete wishbone from GSF is cheap enough to outweigh the hassle.....IMO.

I agree your better off getting the complete wishbone + bushes its a time consuming job replacing them you'd be another couple of hours burning/hacking the old ones out and fitting the new ones in.
