which wire goes where?

Recommended Posts

Please can somebody help me? I recently bought a 1.8 16v corrado 1991 but the previous owner had stripped out the wiring loom and didnt know how to put it back! I've sorted most of it but need some help with connections on the wiring loom, mainly the numerous sensors on the head. There are 3 single terminal sensors on the flywheel end with another just around the corner on the back, i've read somewhere that the sensor on the front of the oil filter housing is green/black but which wire goes to the rear? (0.3 bar oilpressure?)

Amazingly the car still starts with ALL disconnected including all coloured multiplugs! For some unknown reason he'd also chopped the ends off some connectors namely the throttle position sensor and the connector at the rear of the gearbox(manual). I have the connectors (3 pin,one with 1 ridge , 1 with 2 ridges) confirmation of what colour wire goes where would help me greatly.

Finally when the car is running nothing happens when the mfa button is pressed it just reads mfa2 all the time, is this due to all the wires not connected or could i have messed up putting fuse box back in?

Or is anybody close to Doncaster that wouldnt object to me looking under their bonnet? Any help gratefully received.

Just had a browse under the valver's bonnet (got this one parked up at work) for you. As you can see from my sig mines a '90 so hopefully the wire colours will be the same as yours.

On the g/box end of the engine the three single connectors I think you are talking about are positioned around the plastic coolant outlet pipe. Looking at it, top left is Yellor/Red; bottom left is Green/Red; top right is Blue/White.

The single one 'just round the corner on the back' of the engine is Green/Black and fits the sensor sticking out the back just there. Mine has a 'funny' connector that clips on the sensor end pin. (There are two earth wires connected to the top of the block just here as well, one is Brown/White and in the same sleeve as the sensor wire, other is Brown and comes down sleeve from the coil area).

The oil cooler has two sensors, front one is Yellow; back one is Blue/Black. There is an unused wire tied back which is Blue/White.

The throttle sensor plug when connected has wires as: top Black/Yellow; middle Black; bottom Black/Blue.

I can't see any wiring coming off the back of the gearbox so don't know what that is on yours, sorry.

HTH

wiring off the back of the gearbox may be for the speedo as a 91 may have just got the digital clocks instead of the mechanical ones. No idea on colours though, sorry.
