G60 front engine mount swap

Recommended Posts

Hi,

can anyone advise what is involved in changing the front engine mount on my G60? It looks like i will have to take the silencer box off of the charger to get at the top nut, anything else i should look out for?

thanks

Barrie

easiest was is remove the rad. tis the fan n surround that gets in the way.

the you can get to the mount.

loosent eh bottom 2 bots and the top nut.

jack the engine up a tad n remove the bolts. slide the old mount out n put a new vibra or volkspeed mount in there

I'd agree with GazzaG60...

I did mine last week and it's a complete @#$£ to get at the top nut otherwise...

You should be able to get away with just removing the top hose from the rad and block and the rubber pipe from the S/C to the I/C. If you then take out the drivers side headlamp and the battery, you can remove the 4x 10mm (head) bolts that hold the fan housing onto the rad. Remove the wiring from the fan and the thermo switch on the rad and the housing should come out with a small amount of turning... You can then get at the nut to undo it... 8)

I also decided it was time to do my oil cooler while I was in there... :? Not an easy job on a G60! Made a hell of a difference though... It's dropped the oil temp by about 6deg no matter what kind of driving I do! :D

Thanks for the advice guys. I did the job on saturday morning, it took about an hour. All i had to take off was the oil filter, I got at the top mounting nut with a long extension and a socket with a wobble end, had to take off the i/c top hose but much easier than it looked. Hardest part was getting the old mount through the small gap between the subframe.
