ignition timing

Alright all, i have a 1.8 16v and just wondered what the timing should be set? Any help much appreciated, cheers

Hi,

 

6 degrees BTDC +/- 1 at 1,000 rpm idle speed (950 - 1050 rpm range).

 

Check your flywheel timing mark beforehand to determine whether it is the TDC or the igintion timing mark. Sometimes TDC mark is not marked with a "0" or there is no TDC mark and the timing mark is the only one on the flywheel.

You must disconnect the red/black wire by the coil to set the timing.Mines set at 9deg for best performance but you may get pinking
