Tips on buying a Corrado

Recommended Posts

Hi

Ive been looking into buying a corado 16v or 2.0 8v. does anyone have the BHP/Torque figures of both engines? what one performs better etc? what are the insurance groups?

Im young and dont want a G60 or V6 so smaller lumps will have to do

Whats all this about door handle repair kits? why and how do these handles break?

I am a trained mechanic so i know most things about engines. just need to know what common faults there are around these cars.

Chers

the engines put out about the same (around 136bhp) from the factory due to the extra emission junk added to the 2.0...

They're both much fun though... 8)

The door handles have a weak point in their design where the stiker pin which presses the release mechanism cracks and eventually shears off leaving you with a non-working exterior door handle... Daves16V makes a repair kit which looks to be spot on... 8)

Err.. the 2.0 8v is only about 112Bhp I think, slow but reliable Golf engine and the 8v's always seem to be in good condition generally, also a very good base for an engine conversion as it's the later spec chassis and components.
