maintenence for a vr6

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if you guys might be able to give me an idea of what kind of servicing that should be given to a vr6 with 130,000k miles. Hoses? sensors? belts?

Since i've had the car, 2 years and 30,000k miles, i've fixed everything that supposed to go wrong with it. But it has never really had a tune up except for oil changes and transmission flush.

Thanks for your replies.

well your normal 130k would be inspection service. oil and filter and a full check over. the chain doesnt need replacing, hoses only replace when needed (cracked split etc) and drive belts if there cracked or dry change them too. All depends how far you wanna go and how much you wanna spend. basic rule;

5k- oil change (as a bonus)

10K-Oil and filter

20k- plugs if not using plats

40k-air filter or clean a performance one

60k- belts (not vr6)

1 year- aircon

2years- brake fluid/ coolant changes

:D

its also worthwhile changing the "serpentine" belt or "V" belt(the belt for the alternator,water pump and power steering pump) at approx 60k intervals too.........
