When I switch my full beam on my lights go out......

Recommended Posts

Well, this is a bit random and was discovered on a country road at 10pm with no road markings - YES!

When I have my lights on and click on the full beam I just get the side lights/parking lights on?

I have the head light loom conversion on also (don't know if this could affect anything)

I haven't checked the bulbs but seems a bit strange they would both go at the same time?

The fuses appear to be fine, first time I've ever checked them on the Corrado.

I read the car manual - always carry spare bulbs - well thank you

same as mine, try adjust the steering colunm down and see if full beam comes on then, mine does. Seems like the wiring has shorted somewhere.

Neil is that one of my looms? I don't keep a record of who I send them to.

Could be the fuse for the main beam on the loom if it is. Try a 30A if you have a 20A fitted.

Cool, will try that Gavin.

The kit was already fiited when I purchased the car Easter 2004

I think all my fuses were 10Amps? I could be wrong though, will check tonight

Mine started going doo-lally a couple of months ago, doing the sort of thing yours is. I replaced one of the 3 20amp blade fuses near the battery (think mine was a BRM loom) and it started behaving itself.

Had the same thing happen in my mk2 GTi, turned out fitting brighter bulbs without upgrading everything else was a bad idea  took my Grandpa's mechanic the best part of a day to replace all the relays, wiring etc.

Replace the fuse and fuse holder on the Loom with a waterproof type fuseholder ( it has a cap on it that keeps the water out )

and that sorted the probs I had with my one,I bought mine from lucas.

Hope this helps
