supercharger tensioner shock absorber

Can anyone tell me of an easier way to get the tensioner shock absorber back onto where it is fixed on the alternator???

 

Ive tried pushing it down but with no luck. Ive tried putting the belt on first then the shock absorber. Also the absorber on first then the belt. no luck!!!

 

please someone help me!!!!

Various methods... you could try and see if your dealer will lend you the tool also...

 

If not - 2 Jubilee clips to take the tension out..

 

Or the way i've done it is to use a plastic dumbell weight with someone else pushing it down onto the tensioner...

how does the jubilee clips method work???

 

dont think the dealers will lend me the tool. Tried to get halfords to order me the appropriate tool but apparently cant get hold of one.

Think Gavin described it in yur other thread... to me it sounded like 2 clips locked together as a spring clamp...
