cubed 0 Posted October 25, 2005 hi! just bought a pair of replacement calipers for my the front of my 90 16v ive had the chance to offer one up,(the one thats binding horribly!) set about painting it only to discover the other ones made by lucas! they look just the same apart from two screw holes on the casting of the lucas one.(on the back)is there any difference?? or just the same part by different manufacturers?? any advice welcome!! cheers! NickVR6 0 Posted October 25, 2005 ATE or LUCAS are good aparantly, you may have one of each but they are allways tweaking the casting slightly. In my ongoing experience this week, if it says guttmann on it give it back. cubed 0 Posted October 26, 2005 found out about lucas girling being the same company today, turns out the drillings are for the flexi to ridid hose bracket, had to drill and tap the girling one to accept it. but its all up and running now! thanks again for all your help!!! p.s gsf hadnt got em when i rang!! stevemac 0 Posted October 27, 2005 Dubbin 24/7, Just in case your local branch's computer system hasn't yet been updated - make a note of the GSF front caliper part numbers mentioned earlier in this thread. Rear calipers are listed on our system, your local branch will be able to find these without a problem. There is an old unit surcharge on each caliper - this will be refunded when you return the old calipers - preferably in the boxes that your new ones arrive in.
