16V engine bits - identical to golf?

This is probably a stupid question, but i'm gonna ask it anyway!! :lol:

 

I need a couple of engine bits for my 1991 valver - starter motor and alternator. I'm a bit skint so am gonna take a risk and see what i can find on eBay. Are both of these parts exactly the same as the mk2 16V golf?

corrado starter motors are all the same, but not the same as a mk2 golf with a rod change box

yep, and you can fit either a 65 or 90Amp alternator from a golf 16v or passat 16v 1.8 or 2.0L.

The later passat and corrado starters may have a different connector block to them though, even if the motor and casing is the same.
