boost gauge options ? opinions

ok so have toyed with fitting the audi gauges then fitting the pod that goes in the cubby.... but to be honest i only want a boost gauge.... i don't want a piller pod and am wondering what other people have done....

 

are there digital displays that could maybe replace the blanks underneath the heated screen switche etc (i have the older style dash)

 

or i was thinking of making something up that could replace the ashtray as i don't smoke... can anyone give me any advice.....

I was thinking of putting two gauges in place of the ashtray/cig lighter, my idea for a way of doing it is this -

 

1) Remove cig lighter & ashtray retaining 'clip'

2) Bond ashtray & cig lighter trim together 'in-situ' with very stong epoxy

3) When hardened, remove from dashboard

4) Bore two holes in the new piece to suit gauges, cut away excess plastic at the back

5) Trim in black leather or vinyl, fit gauges.

 

It would almost look stock, bet someone on here has done something similar?

there's a company selling digital display boost gauges on Ebay... I just got one and have dismantled it as I'm going to be fitting it in a slightly different way from the 52mm round mounting they intend you to use! :lol: you could buy one of these, butcher it a little and fit the LED display into a dash blank if you had time and a bit of patience... 8)

The only down side to these gauges Henny is apparently they are VERY innacuarate as are not calibrated. I looked into these into some detail when I bought my new set!

autometer guages from e-gauges.com get my vote
