faulty switchable live from ignition and stereo space?

I have had problems with the switchable live from ignition think its a fault with the igintion as if i wiggle keys (or every time i go over a bump!)

the power stops and the stereo stops, very igoing!

 

is this comon problem? and is it easy fixed?

 

also cant get the head unit to fit properly just not enough space for all the rcas etc etc....

 

any ideas or tips?

Sounds like classic ignition switch failure. Check the Knowledge Base and/or use the Search.

 

As for your head unit - remove the shelf from below the glove box, and the side panel, and you can get your hand up to behind the stereo to pull the cables into the gap whilst pushing from the front.

Its not that bad if you have a car wit hheight adjustable steering wheel, as you can reach the little tiny screws that hold the switch in place with a small bent screwdriver, however if you have fixed steering wheel, you need to pull the collar off the steering column too which IS a pig of a job... and yes, mine is fixed on my valver....
