4 cylider water pump

Recommended Posts

My 8 valver C has a water leak and needs a new thermostat, so its off to my lcoal gage / VW specialist for some replacements. Just wondered if its worth having the water pump replaced at the same time. Cooling system is going to all be drained anyway, pump costs about £30 from GSF, only ral cost is labour in moving alternator, power steering pump etc. Current system has done 125,000 miles and doesnt leak. What mileage do these pumps do before breaking down? Bearing in mind my C is being put back on the road to start hammering my 30,000 mile a year commute to work.... Bear in mind all 4 cylinder Corrados use hte same water pump...

Cheers,

Mark

My old Jetta 8v one started to fail at about 150,000 miles and 13 years old, same pump design.
