A block test will tell you if the gasket has failed between a cylinder and the coolant. The car can pass the block test and still have a gasket that's allowing oil and coolant to mix. Deluk 0 Posted August 31, 2006 yeah my old Golf 8V mk2 was losing water more and more, i looked for cream neva was any, so i took it to my man at the gararge he done the test and it showed that the water was going into the pistion chamber , so i got a new head gaset fitted sorted , untill she blew up the rings on piston 1, be warned if warter has been going into your pistions for a long time it will rust the rings :shock: then your old motor that done 180k will blow up :roll: shame it was going real well .
