Recommended Posts

This is quite easier than Corrado G60 i guess...

I wonder if anyone has a document or a picture so that can guide from it?

Cheers in advance!

Its easy enough, bar removing the bottom pully to get the lower plastic cover off to get the timing belt off, you have 2 options for this, remove the crankshaft pully bolt or take the front RHS engine mounting bolt out and lever the engine over to give clearance for the pully to come off after removing the 4 allen bolts that secure it to the crankshaft timing pully.

Besides that access is fine and its a straight forward job, you might want to replace the water pump while you are at it, its used to tension the belt and its a timing belt off job to replace it so better do it now than in 6 months.

Quick step by step guide from memory:

1. Remove airbox for access.

2. Slacken off 13mm and 19mm charger bolts.

3. Rotate charger on its mountings, remove belts

4. Remove timing belt upper cover (about 4 clips)

5. align timing marks

6. Remove the 4 allen bolts securing the lower charger / alternator pully

7. Either remove the crankshaft pully bolt or engine mounting bolt and to allow removal of lower charger pully.

8. Loosen water pump securing bolts (3 bolts 10mm)

9. Rotate water pump to slaken the timing belt

10. Remove timing belt lower outer cover

11. Remove timing belt

12. Change water pump if applicable

13. Place new timing belt over the top pully, bottom pully and water pump

14. Check timing marks are aligned

15. Replace bottom timing cover and outer pully making sure to keep the timing aligned.

16. Tension belt by rotating waterpump untill you can turn the timing belt 90deg in the run from the waterpump to the top pully.

17. Rotate engine 2 revolutions by hand

18. Check timing marks and tension again

18. If all is ok and marks are aligned begin re-assembly.
