Recommended Posts

Whilst on tick over and driving there's a constant squeak coming from the engine bay. However when i push the clutch in it disappears???.

Any ideas and should i get my chequebook ready?

Yeah it is then...

The fix is basically a clutch change altho you can buy the bearing seperatly if it's been changed recently (and if so they've used the wrong grease)

It *may* not get any worse or even fix itself if grease moves about...

Arse - the problem is if the box has to come off then you may as well get the chains done but 85k is a bit early... I'd be tempted to live with it for a bit and see what happens...

May be worth checking the gear oil level just incase it's something else (ie inside the box)

Hehe - there is a 17mm allen plug on the side of the box and it should be filled so the oil is up to this level (ie a bit comes out when you remove the plug)

Halfords do a tool but you can make one if you have some large nuts kicking about ...

I'll ignore the large nut gag opportunity..l

LOL - yeah I managed too but i've not started drinking yet....

Allen key - not sure you can get one in there very easily you need a socket type bit really

Clutch = 3 hours (and thats on a lift with air tools etc)
