HarleyGirl 0 Posted December 12, 2006 My central locking won't unlock the passenger door. The pin rises about 2/3rds of the way up and then slowly sinks back down. I can't pull the pin up either to be able to open the door from the inside. Any ideas? - Is this a common fault?
vr6storm 0 Posted December 12, 2006 it'll be the latch thats at fault...........I had the same problem earlier this year, you need to get the door card off (which will be fun as there is a screw that is hidden when the door is shut)..........new latch time in any case
HarleyGirl 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Will it be obvious what is broken - ie the latch? any tips on how to get the door card off with the door shut - how did you do it? Ta.
Toad 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Have you tried using the key in the passenger door? I thought this was indicative of the central locking vacuum pipes leaking?
HarleyGirl 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Yes I've tried this but it wont unlock the door, it activates the central locking but doesn't seem to raise the pin far enough to unlock the door. Similarly I've tried pulling up the pin to open the door inside - still no joy!
Toad 0 Posted December 12, 2006 How about pulling up and turning the key at once?
vr6storm 0 Posted December 12, 2006 its 99.9% deffo the latch if .............when you turn the key the door pin rises as normal then goes back down straight away, and no matter how much you try pulling it up it doesn't move.............to get the door card off you need to actually "rip" it off the hidden screw(obviously its a damage limitation exercise)
HarleyGirl 0 Posted December 12, 2006 Just rushed out in the rain to try this - but sadly no joy!
