Front bumper removal

I was wondering where the fixings are for the front bumper. Ive taken a few bits off and had a nose but i couldnt see any obvious fixings that were to be unscrewed/unbolted at the front. I can see the threaded fixings on the sides but couldnt see quite how you get at them to undo them.

 

Also, are battery trays available from VW? Mine's rotted through so iwill be replacing it during my resto.

Put:

 

front AND bumper AND remov*

 

Into the search and restrict by Exterior forum.
