Help Please! Sick 9A with sooted plugs.

Recommended Posts

A friend has bought a Corrado 16V (9A), changed the plugs and the engine just splutters after 5 mins and soots the plugs in the 3rd cylinder. All the other plugs/cylinders are fine apart from the 3rd cylinder?

Am I right in thinking it could be a sticky valve? Or is there any other common faults with this engine?

All help muchly appreciated!

No common faults that I know of; a sound engine. Possibly a sticking valve and showering the plug with petrol. Did you try razzing it to see if it cleared? Is the lead ok, ie the plug sparks on the dodgy one? (And presume the inside of the dizzy cap is ok and a contact hasn't broken off inside?) Getting oil all over the lead-head?
