chaning vr6 brakes, pads + rear wheel bearings..

And new bolts for the carriers!

 

Just as well put new boots on the slider pins while you're at it.

LOL, those last 3 posts are so confusing!

 

rear bearings are a DIY job if you ask me, as mentioned get a decent manual and away you go!

Oh yeah, I should have said carrier bolts. Supercharged normally forgets these things.

Don't think they do, go to VW.

 

While you're at it, get some carrier bolts.

So if i go in and ask for carrier bolts will then know what im on about or do i need a part number?

are there 2 carrier bolts in each caliper?

and what are these boots your on about?

Tell them you need the bolts that hold the caliper carrier to the hub. It's 2x18mm(I think) for each front caliper, and 2x allen key headed bolts for each rear caliper.

 

The boots fit over the slider pins which the caliper moves on and keep moisture and dirt out of them. Without these, or if these are damaged, the pins can seize and your brakes will work particularly inefficiently.. These aren't cheap though but very worthwhile. They come with new caliper to slider pin bolts, and a pack of lube.
