Engine Management - Cold start injector

Firstly Hi everyone, new to Corrado ownership as Ive always had Mk 2 Golfs but can safely say Im well hooked!

I bought a lovely 92 Corrado 2.0 16v 3 weeks ago but it has some running issues. Someone has disconnected the cold start injector (As well as some other bits). When the injector is connected it immediately over fuels and dies.

A cold start injector should only kick in for 8 seconds or so upon start-up is that correct? Does anyone know what triggers the cold start pulse (Hoping it might be a timer as opposed to an ECU problem).

If anyone can help me that would be great...This is going to be the first of a few engine management questions :scratch:
