Brake pipe flares, SAE or DIN?

finally got round to using the flaring tool i bought a while back, but not sure which bit i need to use.

 

DIN or SAE?

 

anyone know?

ask Pete Griff :salute: I've got his flaring tool atm but it's deep in the garage safe and sound. plus he'll prob know off the top of his head.

i can't remember off the top of my head i'm afraid, sorry - however; mr boost monkey, if you check out the bit that's currently in my flaring tool, it has the measurements etc printed on it... :)

(SAE is ringing a bell - but in all honesty i'm not sure...)

the SAE and the DIN thing i have are very similar, all thats different is the shoulder on the flare at the back, one is at 45degrees, the other is at 90degrees.

 

the more i look at it the more i think either will be fine as they get crushed anyway to form the seal

think i know what you mean - and yeah (if it's what i think) they should seal up without any dramas.....

 

get some pics up if you want clarification...
