Slimg60 0 Posted March 22, 2009 My missus has just got home a bit shaken after clipping a pothole in our golf. I've just had a look and seen I'm now the proud owner of a knackered tyre thanks to a bulged sidewall. I've taken some snaps of the hole and damaged tyre, but can you claim for tyres from the council like you with alloys? Does anyone know the procedure for making a claim? :help: What makes it worst is that the tyre is only 6 months old :censored: Cheers Slim
Philuk 0 Posted March 22, 2009 with our council you need to write a letter of complaint to the transport dpt with pics of where and when it happened. pics of the wheel and tyre and the hole etc and they are usually good and pay out if you can [prove thats what did it. they will try and get out of it but keep at em and usually you get paid out. Toad 0 Posted March 22, 2009 You can... The main defence that the council will use is that if they did not know about the pothole, then they couldn't have fixed it. Basically if noone reported it, or it wasn't picked up on an inspection before you hit it, they won't pay out. Contact the local council and ask to be put through to the highways department. Get photos, and an approximate size etc, and be prepared for a wait, you'll probably not see anything in the way of compensation for 3 months or so, if you do happen to win...
