Swapping Mechanical speedo to electrical!

Recommended Posts

Hey , i recently got my self a sweet corrado! 1989 so the speedo is cable driven was hoping to switch the clocks to the later model fully electric. The fuel gauge at the moment does not work or does the MFA and plus the electric clocks have came with the car, added bonus. The prevous owner told me i should swap them over.

Any help with the wiring of the electrical later model clocks would be much appreciated. I have a electric speedo sensor and from a 1997 polo i have and tried to wire it in instead of he cable driven one, but to no luck . Plus the rev counter goes a bit crazy in the later model clocks when plugged in. Other wise everything else works, including the fuel gauge and MFA.

Any help would be much appreciated oh yeah its a 1.8 16v even if there are other links i have missed a bunt in the right direction would be a great :brickwall:

Been at it for a while and not getting any where!

Many thanks CMuir :notworthy:

Why not use the leccy speedo sensor from a late Corrado? You'll know it'll fit the clusters, which the 1997 Polo one may not.

Not heard of anyone doing this swap before, my MFA doesn't work either but still alot less hassle just getting some replacement clocks and selling on the electric ones!

Good luck though.
