Heaters, Thermal fuses and mild confusion

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Followed the wonderful thermal fuse replacement guide as the heaters were only blowing/heating on setting number 4.

Heaters/blowers now work on settings 1, 2, 3 (windows) but not on number 4 !

Any clues and/or suggestions ?

NB: When I removed the lower dash cowling, I found when removed, the thermal fuse to be located higher up the ducting and behind the glovebox.

92 VR6 if it helps.

This happened to me, I fixed the fuse and then this happened. I found out its the actual contact strip the dial for the speed setting uses behind the plastic dial, youll see it if you pull it off. I tweeked it by bending the contact strip in different places with some pliers till they all came in contact on each speed and it worked! bit fiddly and irritating though. A new heater dial console went for £80 on ebay the other day htough so probably worth the effort! Bit weird it happened to wear out at the same time the thermal fuse went though? I didn't get it, must have blown the fuse with intermittent contact or something, beats me, Raddos :cuckoo: M
