Magnex Exhaust - Removing Middle Silencer

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Had a thought today, and a chat with my local performance specialists who said they can take the middle silencer out of the Magnex kit I have and replace it with a straight pipe.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with doing this and more importantly how the VR6 sounds with it done? I like the noise at rev, but I would like it a little louder so am thinking this is my best option, I will of course be leaving the backbox.

If anyone has a similar setup, any chance of a video or audio to see what its like?

Thanks :D

Do you mean the small front silencer, or the big 'suitcase' in the middle? Defo remove the front one (sounds great!), but I wouldn't remove the suitcase- would be stupidly loud!

Was talking about the 'suitcase' one yeah,

I was trying to find a pic but can't, the Magnex Cat-Back system has just the 'suitcase' and then another silencer at the exhaust tip (probably called the back box). Will it really be stupidly loud?

I just don't think its very loud at the moment with the suitcase 'silencer' and the back box fitted, so was gonna go for a bit louder!

I had a standard suitcase/rear silencer on my last VR, with a decat + straight through pipe to replace the front silencer. It was plenty loud enough and used to spit flames sometimes! 8)

I guess it might be worth a go, if it's not too expensive to get done- then you've got the option of reversing it if it's too loud. Nothing worse than a boomy exhaust on the motorway...
