Early/Late interior (electrics)

Recommended Posts

My car is a `92 VR6 with the early dash and door cards.

Quick question does anyone know if the late interior mirror/window switch, electrical connections are the same as the early ones?

I`ve just picked up a late interior to change over from my early interior.

I haven`t got as far as taking the early door cards off yet.Just wondered if I need to go back for the door looms?

As for heated seat looms has anyone got a pic of an early heated seat switch?

Do all Corrados have the wiring in the dash loom for heated seats?

I`m just trying or hoping I can make this easy for myself.

If not I`m going back for the complete late dash and loom!!!

Do a SEARCH on here. It's been done many times before and you should find all the answers to your questions. But briefly:

Early/late leccy window looms are the same, it's just the switch plugs that are different. You can chop/modify your early ones with the late plugs.

Early/late mirror looms and plugs are different. You can again chop/modify your early one with a late plug but it's not as simple as the leccy window ones. I think there's an extra wire in one of the looms.

For heated seats you'll need the loom and relays. Loom goes from fusebox to the back of the switch on the dash, down the passenger side sill, across the tranny tunnel to plug into both seats and you'll find it ends behind the passenger side rear door card. Loom does unplug into two parts behind the passenger dash area.

Early/late seat switches are different but not sure if they use the same loom.

Cheers Shaun,

I did try the search and found various conversion threads.

None of them quite answered my questions :(

Howwever I have made the executive decision to go for the full late dash conversion.

The Corrado I took the leather and seat looms from has the dash.

So its Plan B and back for a complete late dash!!!!

I going to take everthing I think I will need, wiring looms switches etc.

Going to have another read through the swap topics just to make sure I dont miss anything :)

Yes for the late dash take the switch looms for the ABS, HRW & Fogs. They are different between early and late. Also take the headlight loom. Your early one should work but nice to have a spare.

The early slider heater controls will fit in the late dash but you'll need to make a plate up to fit the bigger gap of the later dial controls. Unless you take them too.

And when you take the late dash out take the fixing bracket at the bottom that fits to the transmission tunnel.

OK thanks I have negotiated for the whole dash ---everything :)

So I will have the rotary heater controls instead of the sliders.

I`ll get the bracket too

Went and got the full dash out today.

Switches clocks wiring looms everything--------but no bracket off the transmission tunnel!!!!

The hardest part of the whole thing was removing the glovebox

Unfortunately didnt get the ignition cowling is was damaged :(

Big job now fitting it all in to my car :o
