Crazy Revs

Put a post up previously about my revs occasionally while driving. My rado's a 2.0l 8v so apparently there's no isv. While drivinvg on the motorway today the revs started to jump about as they have done occasionally but this time they dropped really low, the car jerked violently, the accelerator seemed to be dead. Really need to sort this soon guys so any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like a misfire, the rev counter will be taking engine rpm from the coil so when you get a misfire the engine speed the rev counter "sees" varies quite significantly causing the needle to jump around. This is also why the accelerator feels like its not doing anything. I have no experience with your engine but my first port of call would be plugs/leads/dizzy/coil.
