temp light flashing at low temp?

Recommended Posts

this week for some reason the car was overheating (warning light flashing etc.) and i realised the fan had somehow disconnected its power cable, so i reconnected it (although not until the car overheated and water was pissing out the overflow valves....)

after topping the water up and reconnecting the fan the problem seems to be sorted and its running fine, but the temperature warning light still flashes constantly after the car has been running a few minutes (even though the water temp is reading about 80 degrees and oil about 100). any ideas?

Low level in the tank?

Also check the metal clip is on the plug or it could slide off again - also might have been sloppy engine mounts causing it to come off

could also be that the level sensor in the expansion tank has given up due to the overheating... (yes, I've suffered that myself... )

I have the exact same thing since saturday.

How can we check the expansion tank? I have heard about bridging the connections between the sensor that connects to the tank but my light still flashes!

Levels are also fine in both fluid and temp

Apologies for thread hijack

managed to investigate my fault tonight, turns out it was some loose connections on the expansion tank AND the fan

Happy chappy now! Still may need to sort my thermoswitch at some point though
