8v clunk when depressing clutch

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Clutch has started to make a metalic 'clunk' noise when lifted off. Used to happen between first and second when changing vigorously but has turned into every change and only doesn't do it when changed really really carefully / slowly. I've read through the forums but there are so many things to do with clutches I'm a little lost!! I'm thinking either new clutch or gearbox mounts?

does it do it with the car stationary/not in gear? does sound more like the clutch, funnily enough I'm going to be doing my 8v clutch in a few weeks, very heavy and juddery, either worn right down and/or contaminated friction plate.

Nope doesn't do it when stationary and I've tried going really slowly and changing from first to second... does it when I change carefully and clunks if I change quick so I don't think the speed of the car is anything to do with it but rather the speed of the change.
