steering lock jammed

i cant get my steering lock off drove home from work fine

went back out to the car fired it up the steering lock clicked on

i cant get it off at all any ideas???

assume you have tried wiggling the fook out the wheel whilst trying the key? mines pretty stiff nowadays, keep meaning to grease it up.

 

thats the only other thing id suggest really, strip it down and lube it up.

yeah tried that it still starts up though which is strange

steering lock does what it says on the tin boss, nothing to do with ignition.

 

time to get start pulling it to pieces then.

are they easy to take to pieces or will springs and everything fly all over

long time since i played with one, the last time was when someone tried to nick my mk2 and snapped it.

 

from what i can remember there isnt alot to them and nothing major that will be hard to put back together, doesnt need to come off to grease it really. spray can will do the job.

 

but having said that you may be aswell to replace it for peace of mind, they are on egay for about £18 from partsdepot_uk would be wise to double check part numbers though, im not a vr owner.
