Which FPR and engine mount?

Recommended Posts

I need to replace the gearbox mount and am going to replace the fpr to try and smooth the slight running and hot start issues. Where is the best place to get replacements? GSF any good or both VW jobbies? Any advantage of aftermarket FPR's on a stock setup?

Harry,

I know GSF do the Corrado gearbox mount, more than liley Febi.

Popular mod is to use a Mk2 Golf TD gearbox mount, i enquired at GSF about said gearbox mount as i know this is a solid rubber item that is firmer than the oem oil filled jobby that the Corrado uses, unfortunately they didnt differentiate between models ie all Mk2 mounts were the same and the Turbo Diesel mount was not uprated over the other mk2 mounts.

Personally id go for an OEM Mk2 Golf td mount from VAG.

Cheers Pete.

Thanks Pete, on my Mk2 i used a 1.3 gearbox mount from GSF as this was believed to be stiffer. Sounds like it maybe the same part though. Any ideas on a FPR?

Have you had the fuel pressure checked?, if its dropped a tad because the spring has gone weak in the fpr then crush it in a bench vice to raise the pressure again

I would guess the fpr would be a bosch part from GSF or Euro's?, if it is then no point paying over the top potentially at VW.

As for adjustable regulator on a stock car, no point in my opinion!.
