mk3 mani on a 16v corrado

Recommended Posts

i know this is a long shot and i apologise if its been covered before but....

will a mk3 golf 16v 1.8 gti 50mm manifold be a direct fit onto my 1.8 16v corrado? If not then what other vw models would fit? im trying to squeee as much power out before i do any drastic engine conversions as the engine is pretty low mileage atm! any advice would be great, cheers!

The late mk2 Gold 16v had a larger bore inlet manifold than the earlier ones and would fit. I think (but have not measured) the mk3 (2.0l) 16v manifold is a narrower bore than the mk2 late one and it runs a different injection system, so you may have issues there as well.

okay thanks for that, will keep a look out or save and buy a proper 4 branch manifold! Also, i wanted to get my throttle body off to clean it all out to help it run better and too polish it but the allen key heads are worn, is there a good way to get these off as theres not much room in there for impact tools etc....

A good quality set of allen sockets are always better at not chewing the bolt, but if they are dead, then you may have to drill. I would suggest ordering some new bolts before you start as they should only be a few pence.

couldnt agree more although this set is by snap-on!! they were previously chewed by the previous owner using some argo specials by the looks of things,, i dont think i can fit a drill in there may have to cut a notch out then tap it out with a screwdriver :( oh well... cheers for all your help :)
