Laser Filter Wrench

Apologies if this has been asked before but the search wasnt bringing up the answer for me.

 

Just changed the oil on the VR but couldnt get the filter off with my unsuitable tooling. Is this the correct deallie from Halfords for the job?

Have you tried just using a big spanner on the filter? Think it's something like 36mm but I'd make sure you get the exact size.

Tried it with a massive pipe wrench but it jsut wasnt gripping it well enough and kept slipping.

nah i don't think that's suitable, as vr6 says just get a large socket, i think its 36mm too.

 

if not one of the chain or strap ones work well, but i've mishapen filters with them before.

That Laser thing is correct for 4 Cyl VW's and TDI's etc but not the VR

 

As above you need a 36mm socket

I did mean socket above, but my brain typed spanner. Quite fitting!
