calling all bike carb engine owners....

Recommended Posts

I have just bought the carbs off a 900cbr....im not sure why i did this (well i do check out the vid and listen to that noise, thats exactly why i bought them...they look cool as hell too )

so now iv got them what do i do :help:

i know i've got to get a manifold made up and also a fuel pump and regualtor? could possibly get one off the same bike to help out and keep cost down but also whats the best way to go about mounting the throttle cable?? what other bits do i need to but to get it all done and what kinda of bhp will this add (if any, im more interested in the look and the noise tbh) just any help would be appreciated as iv never done this or know of a 16v rado thats been done!

youll need a linkage setup as theyll be different lengths than off the bike, you cant really use originals. your fuel pump is way too high a pressure to use with carbs, max pressure would be around 1 bar.maybe an electric lift pump.

you may get a few bhp but you need to get the jetting right otherwise itll run like crap. also be aware at this time of the year your carbs will be prone to icing

well it wont be done until the spring anyway as im going on holiday first so paying for that, im just gettin all the bits together so that when i get back it can be thrown together so to speak.

Ice isnt too much of a problem anyways as its tucked up in a garage over the winter months im aware of the jets and im sure you can use the bike pump as its 12v so thats not too much of a problem im just curious about the linkage and also the manifold (whats this i keep reading about the brake servo going into the manifold??? ) as well as how it all fits together and works.

I know its not an expensive mod so if needs be i might get all the bits and then get a specialist to do it, although once iv got all the bits it shouldnt be that hard to put together and im more of the "built not bought" ilk anyhow...

Anyone got any detailed pics of theirs or similar mk2 golfs that i could use as reference?
