VW-Speed.NL Wintermeet 2011

Recommended Posts

Having just spent the weekend over in Holland at the VW-Speed.NL 9th annual wintermeet, I thought I'd stick up a quick report on the show.

I went over to the show with three of my mates from Deutschconnection after we were invited over by Chris and Bernd of VW-Speed. Any of you who have attended E38 over the last couple of years may be aware of the VW-Speed guys as they have been attending in increasing numbers with some lovely old school vw's. Anyway some of the DC guys have built up a good friendship with the VW-Speed guys and we felt that we would go over and check out their show. Of course this meant missing UD's but we felt that the opportunity to go to a European show early in the season was too good to pass up.

Chris, Bernd and all the VW-Speed.NL crew really looked after us well and put on a fantastic show. The scale of the show was immense and the whole operation was very well organised and had a nice relaxed, chilled out atmosphere. We all had a great time and each of us agreed we would be returning again next year, definitely with more cars and hopefully with a few more of the guys coming over next time round.

We set off on Friday morning from Glasgow going via Edinburgh, to pick up one of the guys, then on down to Hull to get the overnight ferry to Rotterdam. From there it was 150 miles onto Duerningen where the show was taking place.

When we arrived the cars were pretty filthy, so while the VW-Speed crew were setting up we spent the afternoon cleaning and polishing. Here's a couple of pics of the two cars we took over:

Anyway onto some pics of the Rados that were there, unfortunately not very many and some were quite ropey but it did give me inspiration to get mine done so I can take it over next year hopefully:

The sheer amount of work that went into this was amazing, and all the little details on it meant that it attracted a fair bit of attention:
