Jim 2 Posted March 27, 2003 Wow!! £210! Sweet stuff mate.. that guy hasn't emailed me back yet either (I emailed him before you signed up asking to get in contact with you - I was hoping he'd email me to say that he has) so I guess he either can't get on the net at work, or he isnt interested in doing a deal! jimbo-corrado 0 Posted March 27, 2003 Info incase thing's don't work out . Ive got my 1.8L gearbox on a 2.0L golf mk3 bottom end so i think they are the same gearbox i.e no probs with the gear ratio , and the clutch splines are the same . Not sure if the G60 is the same though .
Dave_Corrado16v 0 Posted March 28, 2003 Thanks for all the help guys - ive now ordered a 50k mile gearbox from a breakers, all in (including VAT and delivery) its cost me £218. It should be delivered to the garage where my car is on Tuesday, then they can fit it for me at a cost of £65+vat. Hopefully back on the road in a few days - then its for sale! Ive got myself insured on my Dads Escort TD for the meantime, so once ive got my Corrado back ill just park it on the driveway until a buyer comes along! Cheers guys, ill let you know how i get on! Jim 2 Posted March 28, 2003 Sorry to hear it mate! At least you managed to get it sorted relatively cheaply!
Dave_Corrado16v 0 Posted March 28, 2003 well its not sorted just yet ;) Ill still have to get her idling properly when i get her back. I really dont want to have to sell her, but ive spent so much repairing her, i have to pay back the debts ive accumulated! Once shes gone ill be buying a cheap Ford TD - thinking of a Mondeo or Escort at the mo! oh the shame!
Jim 2 Posted March 28, 2003 What are you thinking of selling her for? Once she's all sorted that is?
Dave_Corrado16v 0 Posted March 28, 2003 Basically in order to get her fixed ive had to max out my credit card - which means my minimum monthly payment has gone thru the roof and im totally bloody skint! Basically i really need to pay off some of my credit card and get a car thats cheaper to run, with parts more easily available and lower insurance. Ive been running performance cars for the last 2 years, and im only 21 now, so as you can imagine insurance isnt cheap - plus whenever they go wrong they cost money. All this has left me owing a fair few pennies. The Golf i had was 100% reliable and as a result i was actually paying off the debts i accumulated with my unreliable 205 GTI - unfortunately this repair on the Corrado has put me back to square one, so its really got to stop here. Dont worry tho, ill get myself a nice cheap diesel, pocket the extra cash and once ive saved up some money ill get something fast for the weekends - maybe a motorbike or a westfield or something! Either that or ill fit a towbar to the diesel, and get a 205 GTI 1.9 or Golf GTI 16v, strip it out and just use it for trackdays :) :)
Dave_Corrado16v 0 Posted March 28, 2003 just reread your post - did you mean how much? im going to advertise her for £2k ONO, so theres a bit of room for manouvre there ;)
Jim 2 Posted March 28, 2003 Hehe.. you dont fancy giving me £5,000 and doing a part-ex with my Citroen Saxo VTR? ;) Its a great car but I am missing my Corrado like crazy! Low insurance, superb fuel economy :)
Jim 2 Posted March 28, 2003 I think you are posting in the wrong bit mate! I'm gonna split your post off and make a new thread for you. *edit* KARMAN - I have split your post and put it in the Wanted forum with an appropriate topic!
