Recommended Posts

hi,finally got the car to run (usual crank pulley problem) but i have no rev counter its never worked on this recent purchase,i believe it takes its signal fron the coil?? but i have only 2 wires to my coil on spade terminals,i found a 2 port white plastic connector in the glove box that looks like it once lived on the coil but there are no loose wires anywhere near the coil ,anyone any idea, its a digital speedo version(91).also have a blanked off vacuum hose below the throttle body facing passengers side wing again cant see what it was once connected too,is this a mod or a bodge?cheers

By Digital speedo conversion do you mean its a Digifiz? Like these http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=digifiz&_sacat=See-All-Categories

On the coil there should be 2 wires, green and black if i remember correctly. The rev counter itself gets its signal from the ecu which is located under the rain tray in the engine bay. Vacuum hoses on the back of the throttle body: 1 should go to the ecu for manifold pressure and another should go to the active charcoal system, sometimes called the carbon canister. This system is commonly removed from the car. There is also a larger hose on the side of the boost return part of the throttle bodie that is also part of the charcoal system. If the charcoal system has been removed and the hoses for it is still there knocking about and not in use i would cut them back to about 2" from the throttle body and screw a bolt into the end of the hoses to stop any vacuum leaks.
