Help Fitting a BMC CDA85-150 Please

Recommended Posts

This is a bit muppety but hopefully you can help. Probably obvious to everyone but me, so please don't lol.

Went to fit a brand new BMC CDA to a mate's VR today, assuming the CDA engine end flange would slot over the MAF flange. Duh, wrong!! Seems I need a short length of silicone or similar tube. What size tube? The CDA flange is external 85mm and the MAF flange is 80mm. So do I get a piece of 80mm so it fits tight on the MAF end and sqeeeeeze it over the CDA 85mm flange or go the other way and use 85mm tube and hope the jubilee clip will close it up enough to make a seal on the 80mm MAF flange?

I fitted a used one that I bought recently (from this forum, thanks Rams) to my Golf3 VR6 the other day and that came with a short piece of silicone tube already on it, so it wasn't an issue.

Where is best place to buy the tube? BMC do a red silicone one in either 80mm or 85mm internal diameter and 80mm long but it is pretty expensive at £22.20 inc VAT.

Might be worth calling Stealth Racing as they used to do the BMC packaged up with a fitting kit for the VR6 which included the bits that you needed! :)
