kvwloon 0 Posted March 19, 2004 True, but mine was cheap, and was getting hacked off with people judging the car just by it's H plate! The old plate is defunct and is never issued again. You can keep it but have to pay a retention fee, which needs to be renewed periodically, and is at DVLA discretion.
PhatVR6 0 Posted March 19, 2004 so basically, they can sell it to someone else and get even more money?!
Henny 0 Posted March 19, 2004 so basically, they can sell it to someone else and get even more money?! Yup, or it'll be re-issued when someone swaps a private plate to their new car for use on their old car... :?
Storm Monkey 0 Posted March 19, 2004 If it isn't re-issued, they you can ask for the same one back when you sell it. It helps keep the paperwork simple. Mine used to be VR6 259 - should have bought that too really :(
jedi-knight83 0 Posted March 19, 2004 Mine used to be VR6 259 - should have bought that too really hell yeah!!! what did the guy do? keep it for another vr6 or sell it on its own?
vr6corrado 0 Posted March 19, 2004 those £250 ones are £375 inc VAT and transfer fee. DVLA prices are fully inclusive - apart from the auctions.
kvwloon 0 Posted March 19, 2004 Oh, I thought once an old plate was taken off that was it, never to be seen again unless you pay to 'retain' it..... Funny business this, because after all, technically any plate always remains the property of the DVLA / Government. Got to be worth paying a bit extra NOT to get a plate from a rusty 1973 Belfast Milkfloat though...GAZ ####, WAZ####, JIZ #### in a Max Power stylee.
