Bobby 0 Posted March 18, 2004 after getting my top end rebuilt on my 1.8 16v kr lump there seems too be a build up off pressure that is causing the top hose going into the radiator to get hot quick and build up pressure real quick where as the lower pipe coming from the radiator stay fairly cold and doesn't build up a lot of pressure, any ideas of what it could be it was suggested that the thermostat is jammed. the heater in the car blows warm and the wateer pump is returning ok aswell. how easy is it to get to the thermostat. :?: p.s anybody know how much a complete dizzy is for a kr engine? :-P thanks any ideas are much appreciated :D Bobby
Bobby 0 Posted March 18, 2004 oh yeah this problem had occurred before the head was skimmed and rebuilt and was probably the cause of blowing the head gasket and lack of coolant:(
Henny 0 Posted March 18, 2004 dead thermostat... :| Time to fit a new one... 8) The good news is that they're cheap and pretty easy to do on the 1.8 16Vs... :) If I were you, I'd also buy the plastic thermostat housing and replace that too, as the odds are the old one will be brittle and break when you try to put it back on! ;) Again, cheap enough not to have an excuse not to do it! ;) Oh, and Dizzys are £68 from Euro with a £50 surcharge on your old unit... 8)
