Little help with a dumb question needed

Recommended Posts

hello all,

sorry but i have to ask a dumb question (if you don’t know you have to ask)

So i recently bought my 1.8 16v corrado and have been learning a few bits and pieces, replacing rocker cover gasket, a few coolant flanges and general service and tidy up and was kinda proud of my self too since i've never done any of this before, however when i was tinkering the other day i've managed to break off a wire connected via a thin piece of balck plastic to a nut on the right side of my engine near the top at close to the front next to the coolant flange and unfortunately i have no idea what it is therefore cannot buy one to replace it.

My only thought was that it could be an earthing wire and if so can i just wrap the bare wire round the nut and tighten? or should i replace the whole nut or even the whole wire. i've looked through my haynes manual but can find no mention. Another thought is that its a temp sensor?

sorry if this is a stupid question but i am new at this and trying to learn

everyone has got to start somewhere

thanks in advance
