Painting the "VR6-DOHC" cover?

Recommended Posts

About time I started tidying up my engine bay now the warmer weather is coming.

What products do people use to degrease this cover prior to painting?

Do you use high temperature paint?

Give it a good clean, then scotch it back and use some panel wipe.. I used vw satin silver on mine as it does not get too hot

i used normal basecoat/clearcoat on my cam cover and engine cover and its held up fine, if i was to do the engine cover again i would rough it all up back to rough plastic and use a plastic filler {theres loads out there} and give the whole thing a skim of filler keeping 5mm or so from the edges of VR6 DOHC just to smooth out the rough orange peel texture of the plastic, it will make a huge differance especialy if you want a gloss finish, if going satin/matt i wouldnt bother,
